Language matters more than most people expect

In emotional, trauma, or family hardship cases, how you say something can matter as much as what you say. People who use some English every day often find that pain, fear, shame, or grief do not come out right in a second language. The words get vague, and the weight does not carry over.

Small details matter in an evaluation. You should not have to simplify what happened because you cannot find the English word. With a professional Spanish interpreter, you can explain your experience with the full range of your own language, and I can record it accurately.

How interpreter support works

A professional interpreter joins the session, in person or by video. I ask questions in English. The interpreter says them in Spanish. You answer in Spanish, and the interpreter puts your answers into English for me.

I then write the report in English. The interpreter only carries the words across. They do not edit, soften, or explain what you say. Their job is to pass on your own words faithfully.

Use a professional interpreter, not a family member, friend, or untrained volunteer. Family members are close to the situation. They may soften hard details or change what is said without meaning to. A professional stays neutral and exact.
